Edward Wolanin

Beginning his studies at the Chopin Academy of Music at the age of 15, Edward is the youngest student ever admitted to the Academy. He studied piano with Jan Ekier (former Chair of the Chopin International Piano Competition of Warsaw) and Bronisława Kawalla, and chamber music with Jerzy Marchwiński. He continued his post-graduate studies with Jan Ekier.

Mr. Wolanin has been awarded First Prize at the Darmstadt International Piano Competition and Second Prize at the Majorca International Chopin Piano Competition. He has performed with the Polish Radio Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Concerto Avenna, collaborating with conductors that include Bogusław Madey, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Tadeusz Strugała, Antoni Wit, Tadeusz Wojciechowski and Marek Pijarowski.

Edward Wolanin’s concert repertoire is very broad and extends from Domenico Scarlatti to contemporary composers, especially Romuald Twardowski. He has also performed chamber music with Jerzy Artysz, Tomasz Strahl, Krzysztof Jakowicz and Kuba Jakowicz.

He has performed in Paris, London, Vienna, Rotterdam, Berlin, Prague, Moscow, Japan, China, Iraq, Jordan, Tunisia, Kuwait, Nigeria, Mexico and the United States, and taken part in music festivals in Poland, Germany, and France.

Mr. Wolanin has an extensive discography that includes two recordings with Dux of the music of Chopin, three recordings with Acte Préalable of the music of Romuald Twardowski, two recordings with Dux of chamber music, and, with Quindecim, a recording of Johannes Brahms’s Sonatas for violin and piano with violinist Erika Dobosiewicz.
